WELCOME TO OUR LADY OF DOLOURS BASILICA
The Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours, also known as Puthanpally, a minor basilica of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, in Thrissur, Kerala, India, stands tall and grand. With soaring belfries at the entrance, it's a Gothic masterpiece of elegance.
The church's area is 25,000 square feet, and it's the tallest in India, a towering feat. The Bible Tower of 260 feet, makes it the third tallest in Asia, a treat. The church has eleven altars, fine specimens of murals, icons, and statues, all in grandeur. The interior decorations are exuberant, with scenes from the Scriptures, a sight resplendent.
Consecrated in 1940 by Bishop Mar Francis Vazhappilly, elevated to the status of a Basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1992, truly.This church is a symbol of faith and devotion, a place of worship and spiritual emotion.
